The goal of this
4-hour exam is to measure the skills required by a person who would be
regarded as a PC Technician in the IT industry. The
exam and its certification is an FCPA-branded certification. The exam is
a vendor-independent, market-neutral certification and it is not designed
around any one specific vendor; rather, it is a cross-platform exam.
FCPT™ professionals
will have the knowledge and the skills to properly install, configure,
upgrade, troubleshoot and repair computer hardware. This includes basic
knowledge of desktop computers and portable systems, basic networking
concepts, and printers. These professionals also will have knowledge of
safety and common preventative maintenance procedures.
IT professionals who
pass this exam will have the knowledge and the skills to work with DOS,
Windows 3.x, Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP,
Linux, and Novell Netware for installing, configuring, upgrading,
troubleshooting, as well as hardware and software management and
troubleshooting. Such individuals will earn the FCPT™
credential.
To pass this hands-on
